Snowed In 2

Another snow storm! Which means another day stuck inside. Best not waste it, I thought. Spent about 4 hours painting. Mostly just to practice techniques but also played around with a few concepts. Enjoy. (Black Birds, Scarf, Snowy Princess)

MTG Alter- Mountain

For someone who doesn't play this card game, I sure do a lot of alters on these cards. It's a fun activity to hone some of my detail painting and color matching skills. I also usually do them as a gift to someone. Two birds, one stone :) This one I just extended the illustration past the borders. Enjoy. 

MTG card alter: Fleecemane Lion

As a homage to one of my new favorite cartoons,. Steven Universe, created by Rebecca Sugar, I altered a Magic the Gathering card called "Fleecemane Lion". It is made to look like Steven's animal companion "Lion", who is a pink lion! Enjoy :)

Hello my friends! 

After a long, sad dry spell, I am back. For a long time I've been concentrating on just making and saving money. But now I work for a fantastic company called Paint Nite. There I am a teacher, a party host and administrative assistant. I get to teach a 2 hour long class in a restaurant or bar. The paintings are acrylic. They are usually composed of simple colors and shapes, but a few utilize advanced techniques of blending and texture. 

I've never had a more fun and fulfilling job. I get to explore my creativity while also helping others do the same. Plus drinking and great tunes always makes a Paint Nite Event a great time. From Bad to Worse, Adventure Time Commission~ Final

So after many months, I have finished the Adventure Time Poster from the episode "From Bad to Worse". I'm very proud of it. I feel I captured the Adventure Time feel while still adding a bit of my own style to it. I was very lucky to get this commission, it was fun to design and paint! Enjoy!

Hello all! I hope you had a lovely holiday. New years is rapidly approaching and one of my resolutions is going to be illustration related. As in I'm gonna start busting my butt to be a professional. So here are a few older paintings that I wanted to archive on my blog for potential jobs. I needed a few more examples of my work with acrylics. Hip Hop Poster Final: Concrete Scrupules

Well I finished it just in time for June to begin. I need to brush up (or learn more) graphic design because despite hours of obsessively trying to fix this, I'm not really happy with how the type ended up. No matter what I did, it just didn't look like what I wanted it to. But the illustration part of it, I'm very proud of. Any viewers from North Carolina, definitely check out this event!

John Hicklenton: Illustrator

If any of you have not seen any work by John Hicklenton or have not read his last, and arguably best, piece of work; 100 Months, you need to go find it. It's savage, beautiful, and haunting. The style evolves and mutates as you read each page. The plot, while complexly metaphorical, is relatable and stirring. 

He was a master of our time and passed on too soon. I greatly admire his work and identify with it. Check it out!
