Halloween inspired paintings

Halloween is my favorite holiday. It's the time of year where everyone expresses themselves creatively whether it's with costumes or Jack-o-laterns or making treats. I usually feel really inspired. I also watch a lot of horror movies and I always want to make crazy stuff after watching one haha. Enjoy.

Painting I made for my costume party Paint Nite event. I call it Ghost Party.
This one is called "Pressure" Scary stuff like the good old days.

Jack-O-carving

Carved pumpkins for the first time in years. I took the task pretty seriously and did a few pages of thumbnails before getting a design I was happy with. My boyfriend also carved a really cute pumpkin. Enjoy. Ice King (left) by Me. Bat (right) by BF.

Landscape Study

Hey y'all!

It's been a while. Fortunately I haven't been updating out of busyness and not laziness haha Paint Nite has been amazing. My events are going well and I'm having so much fun.

I've also been doing more painting than I have in years. I went on vacation in August and painted this landscape based on the lake we were staying on. This one dock had a bright beacon that they left on at night. It was dreamy.

I call it the Wishing Lake. Enjoy.

Figure Study: Barrier

I like doing gestural figure studies because when you are loose you allow yourself to naturally learn proportions. I learned this from one of the best figure artists I know, David Bondar. The following study is in acrylic. It's called Barrier. Enjoy.

Fat Animals

When I'm working at Paint Nite, I'm not always the teacher. Another important part of an event running smoothly is the assistant. I've been an assistant quite a few times now and I enjoy it just as much as teaching. It's a great way to connect with guests at a one on one level. And I get to take a ton of fun pictures!

If I'm working at an event that is pretty low maintenance, I usually have time to paint a little something in the down time.

For some reason, both times I've done this so much, I've painted fat animals. Enjoy.

Archive Post: Bat Painting

I found this little guy in my emails! It's a painting I made for a close friend of mine for a wedding gift. Really happy with the colors in the bat on this one. He just looks so sweet and innocent. Enjoy.

MTG Alter- Mountain

For someone who doesn't play this card game, I sure do a lot of alters on these cards. It's a fun activity to hone some of my detail painting and color matching skills. I also usually do them as a gift to someone. Two birds, one stone :) This one I just extended the illustration past the borders. Enjoy.

Where my classroom is a bar!

So I've been an artist for Paint Nite since November of 2013. Every day that goes by I am more and more excited and inspired by this job. I've been creating more of my own art as well as improving my skills and learning new techniques. Finally the things I learned in college are paying off!

This blog will be mostly directed at my personal work but I can't help but share my Paint Nite adventures with everyone!

Here is the link to my artist's page where potential guests can see my scheduled events and locations. I want to meet as many people as possible and share my love of art with them. Also my love of partying!

Beelily

I moved to Andover with my boyfriend at the beginning of July. But before I left my old apartment, my previous landlord made my roommates and I a huge dinner. He's a class-act. So I painted something for them. There are two versions, the second I believe might be used as a Paint Nite painting. Stay tuned and stay cool ;)

MTG card alter: Fleecemane Lion

As a homage to one of my new favorite cartoons,. Steven Universe, created by Rebecca Sugar, I altered a Magic the Gathering card called "Fleecemane Lion". It is made to look like Steven's animal companion "Lion", who is a pink lion! Enjoy :)

Triumphant Return! Plus some fun things~

Hello my friends!

After a long, sad dry spell, I am back. For a long time I've been concentrating on just making and saving money. But now I work for a fantastic company called Paint Nite. There I am a teacher, a party host and administrative assistant. I get to teach a 2 hour long class in a restaurant or bar. The paintings are acrylic. They are usually composed of simple colors and shapes, but a few utilize advanced techniques of blending and texture.

I've never had a more fun and fulfilling job. I get to explore my creativity while also helping others do the same. Plus drinking and great tunes always makes a Paint Nite Event a great time. Below is the link to my page where all my current events are listed. If you want to come to one of my classes (or any other event for that matter) use coupon code: "Kerri" to save $20 off your tickets!!

I've also attached some of the work I've done recently. After seeing How to Train Your Dragon 2 I've been on a big dragon kick!! Enjoy :)
